Gustafsson, Jan-Eric; Undheim, Johan Olav – Journal of Educational Psychology, 1992
The stability of some dimensions of ability between the ages of 12 and 15 years was investigated for 225 boys and 242 girls in Sweden. Testing in grades 6, 8, and 9 indicated high stability for the general intelligence factor and for the residual of the General Visual factor. (SLD)

Postlethwaite, T. Neville – 1986
The use of standardized testing in secondary schools (with students between 10 and 19 years old) is described for four European countries: (1) England; (2) West Germany; (3) the Netherlands; and (4) Sweden. Emanuelsson, Ingemar; Svensson, Allan – Scandinavian Journal of Educational Research, 1986
Changes in intelligence among Swedish 13-year-olds during a 20-year period was studied. Results show: (1) the average of spatial and reasoning intelligence has risen; (2) verbal intelligence increased during the 1960s, but declined thereafter; and (3) by the 1980s girls surpassed in verbal ability and equalled in spatial ability. Fischbein, Siv – Intelligence, 1980
Swedish longitudinal studies of twins support Scarr-Salapatek's explanation of nature-nurture influences on intelligence. This model predicts more genetic variance in test results for advantaged than disadvantaged groups. Jensen's work, however, suggests equal amounts of variance among different social classes. Emanuelsson, Ingemar; And Others – Scandinavian Journal of Educational Research, 1993
Changes in verbal, spatial, and reasoning intelligence among Swedish 13-year olds were studied from 1960 to 1990. Rising verbal scores until 1980 have been followed by a decline to essentially the 1960 level. Spatial and reasoning results have risen continuously. Gender and social class differences are discussed. (SLD)

Svensson, Allan; And Others – 1997
As part of a continuing evaluation of the Swedish school system, changes in intelligence test scores from 1960 to 1995 were studied in relation to cohort, gender, and socioeconomic background. Changes in verbal, spatial, and reasoning ability were studied by comparing results on identical tests given to representative samples of Swedish…

Harnqvist, Kjell; Stahle, Gun – 1977
A written intelligence test with verbal, reasoning, and spatial subscales was administered to two comparable national samples of 1,000 thirteen-year olds in Sweden, tested in 1961 and in 1966. The increases were greater for girls than for boys, and the changes occurred simultaneously with several changes in social and educational conditions. To…
