Financed and operated under the provisions of a contract between the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs, Department of Education, and the Oklahoma State Department of Education, this document describes the Indian Education Program in Oklahoma, which is authorized by the Johnson-O'Malley Act and supervised by the State Department of Education. This 1970 annual report was prepared by the Division of Indian Education. Tables for the enrollment, attendance, dropout, and graduation for 1968-69; the expenditure of contract funds during 1969-70 for administration and supervision, as well as for instruction, lunches, transportation, and other services; the estimated Indian pupil enrollment and attendance for 1971; a financial statement of Indian Education funds for 1970; the state contract funds allocated by counties and for special services and programs in 1970; the lunch and special service lunch fund reimbursement, and the allocation of funds for kindergarten programs in 1969-70 are given. The appendixes show the Indian Pupil School Contract, the Oklahoma plan, an enrollment and attendance table for 1969-70, the Johnson-O'Malley enrollment-age-grade-dropout-graduate table for 1969-70, the Indian Pupil enrollment and average daily attendance by areas and tribes for 1969-70, a map of tribal areas, and a high school senior questionnaire.
