Since 2004, Rhodes State College has been at the forefront of developing an institution-wide model of institutional effectiveness--Strategic and Institutional Effectiveness Planning System (SIEPS). A focus on both measuring mission effectiveness and strategic achievement led to development of a unique electronic application that tracks the direct impact of strategic actions on both expected strategic targets and mission effectiveness/assessment standards. The e-SIEPS was designed to meet the planning needs of individuals at the institutional, program/department unit, and course levels. Through the use of the e-SIEPS application, the college has observed several key improvements: (1) the primary focus of improvements for planners has moved from assessment process changes to impact changes in pedagogy, curriculum, and functional services; and (2) the user friendliness of the application has increased assessment and planning engagement.
