Examining Why: Our Work with Teacher and Schools
Jones, Jessimi
Journal of Museum Education, v39 n2 p175-186 Jul 2014
In late 2006, the Columbus Museum of Art adopted a new framework that established creativity as the lens for learning and visitor experiences. Prior to this time, the museum focused programming for schools and teachers on the one trip "exposure" field trip, occasional teacher workshops, and lesson plans that promoted historical content and technical art making skills. This article explores how CMA's commitment to creativity transformed school programs with the involvement of students and teachers, and identifies strategies for how creativity was employed.
