Funding Ohio's Future: How Ohio Funds K-12 Education & How We Can Do Better. K-12 Education. Executive Summary
Pruitt, Tanisha; Volker, Annie
Policy Matters Ohio
Ohio educates 1.6 million children attending school in big cities, suburbs, and small towns. For years, the school funding system pitted communities against each other and private and charter schools against public schools. This executive summary presents key findings from the full report that describes how the state funds public K-12 education and some key investments proposed in the 2024-25 Executive Budget, the legacy of unconstitutional funding, the role private school vouchers play in harming public schools, and how the Fair School Funding Plan -- when fully funded and fully implemented, including weights and cost corrections -- can provide districts with more resources to prepare Ohio's children to succeed. [For the full report, see ED628214.]
