Key findings from the 1996 Ohio Education Supply and Demand Study are presented, covering the areas of current educator employment; enrollment and population; population projections; gender; race; age and experience; employment prospects; and long-term supply and demand outlook. Analysis of the data indicated: (1) the number of school-age children is expected to increase only very slightly over the next two decades; and (2) there will be an increased need for teachers during the first decade of the 21st century as a result of a large number of teacher retirements.
