Who's Afraid of the Big, Bad Wolf? Young People's Responses to the Conflicts over Large Carnivores in Eastern Norway.
Skogen, Ketil
Rural Sociology, v66 n2 p203-26 Jun 2001
Interviews with rural Norwegian youth about wolves and related environmental controversies found a range of viewpoints related to education and social class. The results reveal a conflict between dominant and subordinate forms of knowledge and between abstraction-oriented and production-oriented cultural forms. Modernization is removing many rural young people from first-hand environmental experience. (Contains 42 references.) (Author/SV)
