Competitive mini-grants are available to local education agencies in North Carolina for the implementation of nationally validated programs from the National Diffusion Network (NDN) in the following areas: (1) Child Nutrition; (2) Education Consolidation and Improvement Act (ECIA) Chapter 1; (3) Education Consolidation and Improvement Act (ECIA) Chapter 2; (4) Exceptional Children; (5) Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA); and (6) Migrant Education. Grants implemented during 1987-88 proved to be a cost-effective way to use limited Federal funds and produce beneficial results for teachers and students. Selection of grant recipients will be on the basis of competitive project proposals which must be received no later than October 26, 1988. Both individual and joint proposals will be considered. The funding period will be December 2, 1988 through June 30, 1989. This manual includes the following: (1) guidelines for submitting proposals in each area; (2) forms to be completed; and (3) sample proposals. Each section is color-coded for easy location. (FMW)
