Gauging Accessibility in an LMS: Finding an Ally in Blackboard Ally

In order to help assist all students, with or without disabilities, SUNY Corning Community College (CCC), located in the Southern Tier of New York, chose to purchase a new software embedded directly into its LMS platform, Blackboard, called Blackboard Ally. This software is designed to automatically calculate the compliance of a document, video, image, PDF, and other items once it is uploaded to Blackboard. Blackboard Ally has become an invaluable tool for faculty as well as students. Faculty are able to assist with student success, and with the alternative formats feature, students can now also assist with their own success that much more.
