The initiative to implement multiple pathways to graduation aims to increase high school graduation rates. Where these opportunities may be present, there are specific actions district leaders can take to support the implementation of multiple pathways to graduation. Through correlational quantitative research, this study provided the opportunity to explore the relationship between the leadership actions of public school superintendents in New York State and their use of the NYSED multiple pathways to graduation with students. The researcher utilized an electronic survey instrument consisting of 43 questions sent to 698 public school district superintendents in New York State, with 50 responses for a 7.2% response rate. Findings indicate that there were specific actions, such as engaging parents, that support the use of pathways. However, these were not necessarily the actions that were performed the most by superintendents. Superintendents performed actions in the structural frame, such as developing district wide policies, and the human resources frame, such as reconfigure curriculum, with more frequency.
