This second report in a series is designed to inform the college of certain opinions held by former students. A 38-item questionnaire was sent to 2288 non-graduate alumni; only 376 (16%) replied. In spite of the small return, a few pertinent observations can be made on the results of the analysis. From the meager response, it appears that most dropouts felt no residual affinity for the college. Most of those who did reply, however, felt that the college, especially the General Education courses, had helped them. Some were slightly disappointed with the counseling, except when given by the faculty. Many felt that personal development was an important aspect of their attendance (an aspect the writer feels should receive more attention). Contradicting their expressed satisfaction with the General Education courses, the curricular change they felt most needed was fewer of these and more technical courses. Half the respondents said they continued their education elsewhere toward a bachelor's--a figure the writer considers unreliable, as transfers would be more likely to reply and thus distort the response to this item. The dropouts had nearly the same number of transfer credits as those who graduated; those who transferred felt well prepared by the college for advanced work. Most respondents felt that the rules of dress and attendance were personally valuable. They also held the faculty in high regard and felt a sense of close student-teacher relationship. (HH)
