Industrial Arts--Woods and Wood Technology: A Curriculum Guide for Intermediate and Secondary Level Programs.

The curriculum outline is designed to aid the instructor in developing a more complete course of study in woods and wood technology for intermediate and secondary school students. The guide is introduced by a discussion of objectives fundamental to a sound program of industrial arts education, followed by an outline and objectives for the content area of the course. The content is presented with reference to four levels of instruction. An introductory section, Woods and Wood Technology, presents the course content in 13 areas, with suggested student activities and teacher techniques. Seven selected topics make up the major portion of the document and where applicable include techniques, processes, and products for the industrial arts woodworking curriculum. These seven content areas are: wood lamination; PEG (polyethylene glycol) diffusion; wood flour and/or particle molding; the production product of industry; wood plastic composition; residential construction; and wood structure, properties, and identification. Each content area includes lists of resource materials. The volume concludes with a resource guide including textbooks and references, visual aids and sources, other resource materials, an equipment, and furniture list, and charts for PEG soaking and drying schedules, the automatic drying chamber drying record, and wood plastic composition.
