Minnesota High School Follow-Up. Class of 1985: One Year Later. Trend Data: 1978-1986. Follow-Up 86.
Sedey, John M.
This publication presents a summary of a study of senior high schools in Minnesota that used the Minnesota Secondary School Follow-Up System to collect data on the class of 1985. Chapter 1 discusses the follow-up system. Chapter 2 describes selected characteristics of the 126 schools reporting follow-up data, presents a statewide summary of the class of 1985, and presents summary data for the classes of 1977-84. Because the system was interrupted for two years, follow-up data are unavailable for the class of 1982, as well as career planning data for the class of 1983. Some findings are that 39.6 percent of the class were enrolled in a four-year college/university, 12.4 percent were enrolled in a vocational school, a fairly constant rate of almost 90 percent full-time education status had been maintained, 57.5 percent were employed, and 12.2 percent were unemployed. Chapter 3 presents a comparison of the plans versus the actual activities of the class of 1985. Findings are provided for those planning various combinations of employment and education. Chapter 4 presents information collected by a survey of employers of the class of 1985. Data is displayed in 12 tables and 19 figures, and forms and instruments are appended. (YLB)
