Council on the Economic Status of Women, St. Paul, Minn.
The purpose of this report, based on testimony presented to the Council on the Economic Status of Women, is to explore the factors contributing to economic and psychological hardship for large numbers of women seeking employment in Minnesota. This report examines women's preparation and opportunities for employment and specifically addresses itself to the barriers to economic independence which exist in social services, employment, job training, and education. Information in the report is divided into the following four major categories: changing life patterns; barriers to economic self-sufficiency including employment practices, job training programs, elementary/secondary schools, vocational education, and higher education; new and emerging services; and findings and recommendations of the council. A brief description of the council's purpose, a list of its members, and a list of people who testified before the council concluded the report. (BM)
