THIS STUDY COMPARED COUNSELOR PREDICTIONS OF COLLEGE ACHIEVEMENT AND LEADERSHIP PARTICIPATION IN EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES IN A GROUP OF UNDERGRADUATE COLLEGE STUDENTS. COMPARISONS WERE MADE BETWEEN 3 GROUPS OF COUNSELORS AND ONE GROUP OF NON-COUNSELORS TO IDENTIFY CHARACTERISTICS OF GOOD CLINICAL PREDICTORS AND TO COMPARE EFFICIENCY OF CLINICAL AND ACTUARIAL METHODS OF PREDICTION MAKING. CRITERION DATA INCLUDED FRESHMAN GRADES, 4-YEAR GRADE AVERAGE, MAJOR FIELD OF STUDY, GRADUATION VERSUS NONGRADUATION, AND RECORDS OF PARTICIPATION IN STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS.
