The second year of the three-district, cooperative program was only partially successful. The City of Saginaw, Michigan, was the Local Educational Agency (LEA) for the program designed for grades K-8 with funding of about $60,000. The project had three broad objectives. Only the first, to provide a program of cultural enrichment using local Indian instructors, was attained. Fifty-two students and adults and five instructors participated in eleven sessions. The second objective was to use a team of two teachers and one parent per participating district to develop and conduct inservice activities on the revised curriculum package. The third objective involved the use of a home-school liaison specialist to increase parent participation and to help determine program improvements. Evaluators observed enrichment sessions, studied a "Cultural Awareness Enrichment Program: Evaluation Form" completed by most participants, and obtained other data from the home-school liaison specialist and teacher/parent teams. They found that objectives two and three were only partially attained due to lack of planning and supervision by project leaders and recommended that this be improved. They also repeated several recommendations from the evaluation of the 1976-1977 project. Appendices include proposal statement of objectives, the evaluation form, and the Teacher Inservice Packet.
