The target population of this project consists of students enrolled in four regional vocational education centers which serve selected students who desire to receive enriched and specialized vocational education during the 11th and 12th years of public school. The project goals for the first year related to identification of students' reading abilities, their preprogram rates of reading growth, and the readability level of basic assigned texts. The first 23 pages of the end of period budget report present statistical, financial, and evaluation data relevant to the stated goals. The remainder of the document, approximately 275 pages, is appendixes: (A) summaries of reading test data and evaluation of posttesting procedures; (B) comparisons between the readability of textbooks used at the centers and students' reading abilities; (C) instructor survey and summary of findings; (D) evaluation of project data; (E) publications and articles; (F) letters of interest; and (G) selected bibliography.
