Examples of Massachusetts District Efforts to Increase Family Involvement

This publication provides a sample of activities taking place in schools. It is intended to offer ideas and provide contact information, so that others working to expand and improve family and community involvement in schools can benefit from shared experience. School districts and schools have implemented additional practices and policies to address the requirements of federal programs such as Title I and to comply with regulations and guidelines of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Law. The document is divided into the following parts: (1) Introduction; (2) Literacy/Skills Development; (3) Increasing Parent Involvement in Schools; (4) Building Parenting Schools; (5) Parent Advisory Committee; (6) School-Community Partnerships; and (7) Comprehensive Programs.
