Spelling and Vocabulary Improvement. The Port of Baltimore Workplace Skills Development Project.
Janiszewski, Kathryn
This set of learning modules was developed during a project to deliver workplace literacy instruction to individuals employed in the more than 50 businesses related to the activities of the Port of Baltimore. It is intended to help employees of port businesses improve their spelling and vocabulary. The first module is a preassessment designed to determine students' spelling proficiency and existing level of vocabulary development. Prefixes and suffixes are discussed in the second module. More advanced spelling rules are presented in the third and fourth modules. The fifth and sixth modules contain information and exercises about homophones and apostrophes. The seventh module is a postassessment. Each module contains objectives, procedures, student handouts, and learning activities/grammar exercises. Answers to all exercises are included. (MN)
