The assessment of strategies for the recruitment of first-time, full-time graduate and first-professional students was undertaken to determine ways and means of attracting full-time black graduate students as part of the state effort to desegregate its higher education system. This report has three parts: a summary of the recruitment strategies, analysis of post-baccalaureate studies enrollment data, and recommendations. The recommendations call for the graduate and professional schools to give careful attention to the baccalaureate recipients pool by major field and to the shifting academic interests of the black graduate students. They also call for the establishment of cooperative programs such that predominantly black institutions may become feeder schools to white graduate and professional schools. Data are taken from the Third Annual Desegregation Status Report, which is based on Fall 1976 enrollments. Appended are reports of Maryland public institutions regarding the recruitment strategies for graduate and first-professional students. The reports are from Bowie State College, Coppin State College, Frostburg State College, Morgan State University, Towson State College, University of Maryland Baltimore County, and University of Maryland College Park.
