Board Games as an Innovative Teaching Tools in Cell Division

This study aims to develop and test the BioXpedia Board Game (BXBG) prototype for teaching Cell Division in Biology. This research was based on the ADDIE model, a sample of 80 was chosen randomly among the Biology pre-service teachers from a local university. Based on the responses of the preliminary studies and literature reviews, a prototype was designed and developed. The expert agreement of 93.33% for face validity and 98.46% for content validity was obtained. The prototype was tested of its perceived usability and resulted with a mean value of 3.74 (s.d = 0.4459). The four constructs that represent usability; student understanding, user-friendliness, procedure, and creative and critical thinking, were all at a satisfactory level, with mean values of 3.70 (s.d = 0.4565), 3.74 (s.d = 0.4420), 3.76 (s.p = 0.4298), and 3.74 (s.p = 0.4553), respectively. A reliability analysis was also carried out, and a Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of 0.945 was computed using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 27. Based on the findings, the BXPG was deemed an appropriate teaching medium to assist pre-service teachers in teaching Cell Division topics.
