This pamphlet contains guidelines for educational institutions that offer training to veterans and certain dependents and survivors of veterans, to keep them in compliance with present laws and regulations. Its intended audience includes veterans, schools, Department of Veterans' Affairs, Veterans' Administration (VA), and state approval officials. Information is provided that should be helpful in the normal day-to-day problems that arise in schools in connection with the G.I. programs. Section I presents information applicable to noncollege degree schools. Topics include approval procedures, use of VA forms, schedules and clock-hour measurement, 85-15 percent ratio requirement, extensions, and approval information. Section II provides these types of information for institutions of higher learning: approval procedures, criteria of approval, program of education, prior credit, attendance, and keeping approval updated. In section III is found information on other topics such as VA counseling, school liability, supervisory visits, compliance surveys, examination and retention of records, entitlement and delimiting dates, nontraditional courses, and criteria for schools approved as accredited and nonaccredited. Section IV provides information on miscellaneous topics, including television courses and Educational Assistance Allowance. An index to VA Education Regulations is attached. (YLB)
