An Assessment of Methods, Procedures, and Equipment Used for Information Records Management.
Burford, Anna M.; Northcutt, Helen A.
This report presents the results of a survey conducted to analyze the factors constituting information records management in business offices located in Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia. Seventy-one percent of 142 randomly selected companies of various sizes responded to mailed questionnaires, and two companies were selected for on-site visits. The survey findings are discussed in five sections: (1) storage and retrieval hardware and software media, (2) in-house microprocessing, (3) management of information, (4) electronic funds transfer, and (5) reprographics. Lists of conclusions and recommendations follow descriptions of the two site visits, and an appendix provides a copy of the questionnaire form, copies of follow-up letters, and a table showing storage equipment used for paper records. Additional tables display breakdowns of the data collected. (FM)
