Title I of E. S. E. A. Projects, 1968. Kansas Annual Evaluation Report.
Ahlstrom, Clyde J., Comp.
The 1968 annual evaluation of Kansas' Title I (Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965) State Migrant Program is presented in this report. The program was in operation in 9 school districts for 6 weeks during the summer and consisted of 931 children from preschool to 7th grade. The program's objectives were (1) to improve the child's performance in the use of language and oral communication, (2) to improve their physical health, and (3) to give the child cultural enrichment experiences. Objective measurements were obtained by using the Metropolitan Achievement Test, the California Reading Test, the Stanford Diagnostic Test, or the Botel Reading Inventory A. Standardized test results are given for grades 1-5 in reading and arithmetic and in language for grades 3-5. General program effectiveness is discussed with regard to new services provided by the program, projects judged most effective per grade span, classroom procedures, and physical set-up of the program. This report also discusses personnel, the program's interrelationship with regular Title I programs, its coordination with other programs, community involvement, the interstate and intrastate basis of the program's dissemination, problem areas in program implementation, and the curriculum for children over 14 years of age.
