HEXACO Personality Traits and Resilience among Japanese Female University Students
Hagihara, Mayuko; Kato, Daiki
College Student Journal, v52 n3 p368-372 Fall 2018
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between personality and resilience. The HEXACO personality model was employed; it includes six personality factors: honesty-humility, emotionality, extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness to experience. The Bidimensional Resilience Scale, which measures innate and acquired resilience, was applied as the index of resilience. The results of the analysis showed that honesty-humility and openness to experience occurred prior to the other personality factors and then they had an effect on the development of resilience. Extraversion and agreeableness affected innate and acquired resilience. Emotionality, in particular, influenced innate resilience and conscientiousness affected acquired resilience.
