Meijer, Alexander; Himmelfarb, Sabine – Adolescence, 1984
Explored the feelings of 18 Jerusalem high school students about their mothers. Results showed fatherless adolescent girls perceived their mothers as significantly less benevelant than girls from two-parent families of similar backgrounds. No differences were found for boys. (JAC)

Examines the relationship between parental bonding and mental health in healthy adolescents. Results, based on 847 Israeli high school students, show that those who reported high care and low control (optimal bonding) reported less distress, better general well-being, and better social support than did all other groups.
