A new collection of more than 130 English textbooks authorized for use in Israeli schools is discussed in terms of quantity, regulations for use, criteria and principles for authorization, and outlook for the year 2000. A list of approved textbooks for the 1992-93 school year in grades 6 through 12 is included. (LB)

This study identified curriculum materials and educational resources currently used in preservice teacher education programs in Israel and how these materials are employed. Great diversity was found in the types of materials in use. The need for development of specially designed curriculum materials is expressed. (PP)

A miniresearch project is reported on the attitudes toward minority groups and women in English textbooks used in Israel. The questionnaire and 12 criteria used offer a simple method by which teachers can examine and select materials they review for class use. (LB)
