The scope, methods, data, conclusions, and recommendations of a study examining press coverage of libraries and their services in Iran are presented, as are the views of librarians concerning such coverage or the lack of it. Tables provide totals of library-oriented items printed in Iranian dailies, weeklies, and monthlies. (FM)

The author suggests contemporary Iran as an excellent subject for a case study in secondary social studies. He considers some of the issues which students might analyze: journalistic bias toward Iran, pluralism in Iranian society and Islam, sociopolitical factors which affect modernizing nations, and the causes of revolution.
