This document contains materials for a college course in health management developed for the State of Iowa. The course syllabus lists the course title, hours, number, description, prerequisites, learning activities, instructional units, required text, 13 references, evaluation criteria, course objectives, and course competencies. It is followed by eight instructional units that cover these topics: the health care management process, management skills and styles, theories of human behavior, problem solving, communication skills, conflict resolution, team-building skills, and employee performance evaluation. Units contain the following: (1) information on prerequisites, required and recommended references, learning activities, and objectives; (2) topic outline; (3) evaluation criteria; (4) an instructor guide that lists references, suggests lecture notes, specifies equipment needed, and provides transparency masters and handouts; (5) a student study guide; and (6) evaluation questions.
