Dustin E. Nail
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville
Finding and retaining qualified teachers has been challenge for public schools in the United State over the past few decades. Teacher retention is one of the major factors impacting the number of qualified teachers available to our school system. This qualitative study was to help provide a better understanding of the teachers and administrators' perspectives in rural Illinois schools, relating to teacher retention. By evaluating the experiences and perspectives of each of these groups, this study uncovers some of the motivations behind teachers who chose to leave their rural schools and how administrators view this situation.
