Students with Disabilities Projected To Exit the Public Schools after the 1997-98 School Year.
Illinois State Board of Education, Springfield.
This report presents estimated data on the exit reasons for students with disabilities projected to leave Illinois public schools after the 1997-98 school year. The data were prepared by averaging the information provided by school districts regarding students who were no longer receiving special education services during the 1995-96 and 1996-97 school years. The report format provides the exit reason by student disability with totals for each county. Disability categories include mental impairment, physical impairment, specific learning disability, visual impairments, hearing impairments, deaf-blind, speech and/or language impairments, behavior/emotional disorder, health impairment, autism, and traumatic brain injury. Exit reasons include: (1) graduated with diploma; (2) graduated with certificate of completion; (3) reached maximum age; and (4) dropped out. State totals are included at the end of the report. Estimates reveal 7,019 students with disabilities will graduate with a diploma, 305 students with disabilities will graduate with a certificate of completion, 427 students will age out, and 2,420 will drop out.
