Project MAVE (Model for Articulated Vocational Education) was initiated to provide curriculum and program sequencing and continuity to students progressing from elementary to secondary to community college levels. Information gathered from surveys, interviews, site visitations, conferences, and literature review led to the conclusion that articulating vocational programs and services employs four major elements: building a cooperative climate, expanding staff communication, developing sequenced K-14 programs, and coordinating K-14 services. Based on these elements, a program guide was developed. The first guide element, building a cooperative climate, involves the formation of an articulation roundtable composed of representatives from each K-14 institution. The roundtable plans long range vocational programs and services. Element 2 deals with the expansion of individual, departmental/divisional, and institutional communication through the use of visitations, meetings, and inservice workshops. Element 3 involves the establishment of a curriculum committee to plan and develop sequenced K-14 curriculum activities and projects. The final guide element, coordinating K-14 services, utilizes a service committee to determine objectives, goals, and priorities and to initiate and implement joint vocational service activities.
