A session that has a theme of outcomes of experiential programs in varied contexts is both exciting and pressing. The three studies in Session IV all addressed relevant issues to experiential programming and all the authors were faced with the empirical challenge of demonstrating how and/or if their programs achieve what they say they are going to achieve. Each study provided evidence of the outcomes of their programs and offered useful suggestions within the context of their study and to the broader field of experiential education. In preparing his remarks, the author was most drawn to the significant findings within each study because they helped him to consider new questions for future inquiry. Additionally he became intrigued with the theme of "catalysts" within the described programs. This theme seems to connect these three studies together and offers useful suggestions for future directions. Finally, he used some of the tensions within process-outcomes experiential program research to guide his closing discussion. He will first address each study on its own, and then discuss their implications collectively in an attempt to weave together a vignette that captures how these studies continue to push one's understanding of process and outcomes within varied contexts of experiential programming.
