The Teacher's Role in Supporting a Learner-Centred Learning Environment: Voices from a Group of Part-Time Postgraduate Students in Hong Kong.
Ng, Kwok Chi; Murphy, David; Jenkins, Winnie
International Journal of Lifelong Education, v21 n5 p462-73 Sep-Oct 2002
Responses from 29 part-time adult learners in Hong Kong regarding views of teacher support were classified as didactic/reproductive or facilitative/transformative. Differences between the groups related to student and teacher roles and responsibilities. Not all learners welcomed learner-centered approaches. A continuum emphasizing learners' abilities and choices, theory and application, and diverse learning styles was suggested. (SK)
