3 on 2 Evaluation Report 1976-1977. Volume I: Technical Report.

The first volume of this three-volume report is a technical report and is intended to describe: the process used to evaluate the 3 on 2 Program; the data collection methods and the analysis procedures undertaken; and the results of the data analysis. This volume presents specific findings and analyses, whereas the evaluative conclusions are presented in Volume II and summarized in Volume III. Chapter II of this volume describes the 3 on 2 Program in which three teachers work as a team with two classes from two grade levels. Chapter III describes the advocate-adversary approach used in the summative evaluation. Chapter IV describes the sampling procedures and the achievement testing program used. Chapter V describes the survey of student attitudes and Chapter VI describes the survey of opinions of teachers, principals, parents, and state policy makers. Chapter VII presents the evaluation of teacher absenteeism and some other teacher characteristics. The remaining chapters discuss classroom observation data, costs, archival information, and a summary of the data collected and major findings. There are 13 appendices. (CTM)
