An Examination of Authentic Leadership Traits and Their Relation to Student Achievement Scores
Hunter, Robin C.
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Northcentral University
The purpose of this quantitative, single case study was to examine principal perceptions of their own leadership traits which may impact student achievement. Principals in one Florida district were invited to participate in an open ended interview, providing their own perceptions of their personal leadership behaviors. By examining the data collected from this study a common set of subthemes emerged related to leadership traits of successful principals. Data from this study can be used to help create professional development training related to principal traits which support academic achievement for practicing and future principals. Results of this study may also lead to a true experimental study of the implications of principal behaviors on student academic success.
