The eight English language arts programs in the six Florida public schools included among the 150 Centers of Excellence in English selected by the National Council of Teachers of English are described in this focused journal issue. Steege and Mary Lou Ridge); (6) "The Language Arts Program of Hialeah High School" (Gail Kelly); (7) "English at Mowat Junior High School: Real Reading, Real Writing, Real People" (Beth Owens Deluzain, Alyne Pitman Farrell, and Gloria Treadwell Pipkin); (8) "English and the Language Arts at David Fairchild Elementary School" (Alice Warren).
