An Inservice Model: Micro-Interviewing Skill Development for Occupational Placement Specialists.

Materials contained in this guide were developed as part of the guidance component of a comprehensive program of vocational education for career development (kindergarten through university) and were used in inservice workshops in the Sarasota and Manatee school districts in Florida to train occupational placement specialists in micro-interviewing techniques. Addressed to the trainer of occupational specialists, the guide discusses procedures for setting up and conducting the inservice workshop and describes how materials contained in the twenty-one appendixes are to be used during the workshop. The appendixes, comprising the major protion of the document, include the following: pre-and posttests on interview/communication for the specialist, pretest/posttest key, pre-post results for Manatee and Sarasota school districts, component descriptions, questions for the occupational specialist, micro-interviewing evaluation critique sheet for interviewee and audience, posttest study and review for interview/communication skills, techniques of micro-interviewing (attending behavior, open invitation to talk, minimal encourages to talk, reflection of feeling, paraphrasing, sharing behavior, summarization of feeling, expression of feeling), eight selected psychological terms, definitions of terms, terms test, and information on self-assessment (psychological test insights and utilization for the occupational placement specialist).
