Perceptions of Counsellors' Intentions with High versus Low Quality Counsellor Responses.
Uhlemann, Max R.; And Others
Canadian Journal of Counselling, v27 n2 p104-12 Apr 1993
Examined quality of counselor responses in seven response modes (reflection of feeling, questions, paraphrasing, interpretation, self-disclosure, confrontation, advice) and client perceptions of counselor intentions. High school students (n=64) rated counselor responses/intentions in 14 videotaped interview vignettes. Six response modes revealed somewhat different client perceptions of counselor intentions under conditions of high versus low quality responses. (Author/NB)
