The purpose of the provincial English as a Second Language (ESL) articulation process is to maintain high standards of quality in ESL programming at the public post-secondary institutions of British Columbia, as well as to facilitate access to programs at other public institutions for students wishing to transfer. Skill requirements are defined for English for Academic Purposes, English for Access Purposes, and English for Work Purposes, with course listings provided in tabular format. Five appendixes are included: (1) General Process for Adding or Making Substantive Changes to a Course or Program in this Guide; (2) Provincial ESL Articulation Steering Committee; (3) English for Academic Purposes Working Committee; (4) English for Access Working Committee; and (5) English for Work Working Committee.
