This report summarizes the application, qualification, admission, and registration patterns of 6,804 college transfer students who applied for admission to at least one of British Columbia's (BC) universities for the fall term of the year 2000. Data contributed by the University of British Columbia (UBC), the University of Victoria (UVic), the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), and Simon Fraser University (SFU) were used in the analysis. Data were collected from 8,409 applications submitted by 6,804 students who applied to at least 1 of the 4 institutions. Of the 6,804 students who applied, 4,596 received at least 1 admission offer, and 3,749 registered at a university. A total of 5,334 applicants were qualified for general admission, of which 4,596 (86%) received an admission offer, and 3,749 (70%) registered. There were 738 qualified applicants (14%) who were not offered admission to a BC university (satisfaction of minimum requirements does not guarantee admission). Of the 6,804 students who applied, 5,444 (65%) applied to 1 university only, 1,141 (27%) applied to 2 of the universities, 193 (7%) applied to 3, and 26 (1%) applied to all 4. UBC received the largest number of applications (3,605 or 43%), followed by UVic with 2,418 (29%), SFU with 1,709 (20%), and UNBC with 677 (8%). (NB)
