St. Andrews, B. A. – Amerasia Journal, 1987
There is a revivification of national literature in Canada. Writers from Canada's varied cultures are producing works. One such work is "Obasan," which concerns the ostracism of Japanese Canadians after World War II. This vivid novel reveals the fate of those "outsiders" as a social commentary on injustice. (VM)

Fong, Eric – Urban Affairs Quarterly, 1994
Compares residential proximity patterns by race in U.S. and Canadian neighborhoods. The findings show that in the United States, but not in Canada, blacks appear to be at a disadvantage in the early stages of spatial assimilation, and other racial groups appear to actively avoid moving into neighborhoods with a dominant black presence.
