San Mateo County Office of Education, Redwood City, CA. Curricular/Pupil Personnel Services Program.
Intended as a resource guide for northern California high school juniors and seniors, this publication contains information on career training, employment, college planning, and financial aid for college. Included in career training are topics such as self-assessment of personal strengths and interests, types of jobs available, special schools and job training programs, the armed forces, and alternative high school diplomas and certificates. Topics covered under employment are job search skills, job interviews, and summer jobs. The section on college planning provides planning calendars for juniors and seniors as well as information on choosing a college, taking college entrance tests, applying to California community colleges and state universities, and applying to private colleges. The final section on financial aid provides a checklist, college cost estimates, eligibility information, publications, and types and sources of financial aid. A vocabulary list of words related to these topics is appended. Although some of the information is pertinent only to California students, much of it is of a general nature. (DC)
