The Ripple Effect: Epistemic and Professional Justice in Indigenous Education
Shay, Marnee
Asia-Pacific Journal of Teacher Education, v50 n2 p144-149 2022
Epistemic and professional justice cannot occur without social justice. Politically astute scholarship should consider the pervasive injustice that indigenous people continue to face in their own country. The Asia-Pacific Journal of Teacher Education (APJTE) can consider its role in this as a publisher -- if there is a paper that is about Indigenous peoples, topics, or is of significant interest to Indigenous people, asking critical questions about researchers, the lens that they bring to this scholarship, or how they have elevated Indigenous voices is a possible way forward. Journals should consider their role in publishing contemporary research that has disregarded a national code of ethics for Indigenous research.
