Arizona Vocational Home Economics Program Guide.
Northern Arizona Univ., Flagstaff. Center for Vocational Education.
This guide is designed for the vocational home economics teacher as a resource document necessary for a comprehensive program for home economics education. It includes all of the important resources, including philosophy, program guidelines, and program of instruction (classification of instructional programs). A copy of the Guide for Developing Competency-Based Curriculum for Vocational Home Economics is provided to assist in the implementation of competency-based curriculum for classroom use. It is divided into two sections. Section I expands the Arizona State Model by reviewing what has been done, presenting the essential skills for the occupation of homemaking and related occupations, and defining a model program in home economics. Section II provides the "how-to-do-it" components. It explains a method of comparing a district's competency lists with those validated by the state and details the steps in formulating objectives. The process of developing the learning strategies and criterion-referenced evaluation instruments is shown. Other sections of the guide include information on youth groups; materials on facilities planning; forms for programs evaluation and planning; and appendixes that contain information on advisory committees, an article on the impact of the microcomputer, and a list of computer resource material appropriate for home economics.
