This document sets forth the comprehensive health skills which provide the framework for health education programs for students from K-12. Objectives for each level are described as well as key indicators of what the students should be expected to comprehend at the conclusion of each section. For each of the 13 areas of comprehensive health concerns, essential skills, key indicators, and suggested evaluation are outlined. The areas covered are: (1) life management skills; (2) environmental health; (3) safe environment and injury prevention; (4) substance abuse prevention; (5) nutrition; (6) growth and development; (7) human sexuality; (8) consumer health; (9) community health resources; (10) disease prevention and control; (11) personal health and hygiene; (12) family health; and (13) physical education.
