A project was conducted to disseminate career education philosophy, methods, program activities, and evaluation results to career education practitioners and the general public in rural Appalachia. Five major project dissemination tasks were accomplished and evaluated, including (1) visitations to the project and regional schools so that educators could see career education activity in action; (2) a seasonal newsletter; (3) a "how to" guide on correlating career education with the basics; (4) a "how to" guide describing the procedures utilized in community collaboration efforts; and (5) a third "how to" guide which was directed toward how to involve exceptional children in career education activities. The overall objective of the evaluation was to determine the effectiveness of the dissemination project by ascertaining the perceptions of those individuals exposed to the tasks. Questionnaires were mailed to individuals who had visited the project and had recieved project materials. The questionnaire gathered respondent demographic data, individual evaluation of each dissemination task, and a collective evaluation of the relative effectiveness of the various dissemination tasks. Based on an analysis of the data collected, it was concluded that all dissemination activities undertaken were considered effective by the respondents; however, there was a consistency displayed among the various ratings and rankings. The visit was a clear first choice, followed by the guide on the basics. (BM)
