Stacy McGrath
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Wilmington University (Delaware)
The world of healthcare is always changing, but the foundation of quality healthcare remains constant, qualified registered nurses. More students enter community colleges than four-year universities in an attempt to become registered nurses. As the need for registered nurses grows, the number of open slots within community college nursing programs is not growing at the same rate. Community colleges such as Wor-Wic Community College are faced with large applicant pools with limited seats available within their programs. As the pass rate for the NCLEX-RN licensing exam declines, it is more important than ever that nursing schools start off with the best possible nursing students from their applicant pool. An unsuccessful student is detrimental to the program and the future of healthcare. The admission process for community colleges such as Wor-Wic Community College a crucial process. It is important to identify the most useful admission criteria when evaluating community college applicants for the Wor-Wic Community College Nursing program. The purpose of this retrospective quantitative study is to identify the relationship of TEAS test scores and successful students within the Wor-Wic Community College Associate Degree of Nursing program.
