In the United States, approximately 65 percent of all jobs in 2020 will require some level of postsecondary education, and the demand will reach 71 percent in Kansas. This report seeks to inform public discourse on higher education by providing key performance indicators relevant to the goal of improving educational attainment in Kansas. Performance indicators are categorized within six dimensions: (1) Preparation; (2) Participation; (3) Affordability; (4) Completion; (5) Equity; and (6) Finance. Most indicators provide the MHEC regional average and U.S. average or population proportion as lower performance benchmarks as well as the median of the top five states in the nation as an aspirational benchmark.
