Chase, Darrell
Techniques: Connecting Education and Careers (J1), v85 n3 p34-37 Mar 2010
Districts face increasing pressure to improve students' mastery of curriculum in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Yet the number of students enrolling in science and math courses drops dramatically in middle and high school. At Sylvester Middle School, Chinook Middle School and Cascade Middle School of the Highline School District in Burien, Washington, they are trying to change this trend with an emphasis on STEM and career exploratory options infused into Career (Business) and Technical Exploratory Education classes to increase student's enthusiasm for science and math.
